Hello J/80 Competitors
Thankfully Earl took a turn Eastward and left us alone so we are back to making our final plans for the North Americans
44 entries !!!! This is an amazing turn out!!! It is going to be a fantastic regatta !!
A few logistical details to inform you of before you arrive in Marion next week.
- Each boat has a measurement/launch slot. Try to arrive near the beginning of your time slot so that there is plenty of time to complete the measurement process.
- As a reminder, if you are not familiar with the measurement process, please see the Measurement Guide that is posted in the J80 NA site (http://www.j80.org/docs/2010J80MeasurementGuide.pdf)
- When you come to Marion, the first place you need to go is to Island Wharf/Barden’s Boat Yard (see attached map)
- You will be given a packet of information which will contain:
- - tag for your trailer and corresponding sign for your car’s dashboard
- - list of bow numbers/haul out order
- - your mooring number and map of mooring field
- - 4 measurement forms
- you will be given instructions about where to drop off your trailer and where to park your car
- Barden’s Boat Yard has hoses available so you can clean your boat hulls
- Bow numbers coincided with your haul out number. Haul out order was determined using the distance to your post regatta destination (farthest away come out first, local boats out last). Where boats are listed for the same post regatta destination, the order the boats registered was used to define the order
- All boats MUST be measured and crew weighed in during the published hours. If you have a crew member who will not be able to weigh in during these hours you MUST make special arrangements ahead of time to have this person weighed in. Contact me at kmanning6@gmail.com
- Another reminder that owners must be J80 Class members, and there may be only 1 helmsman designated for the entire event. Please be prepared to declare who the helmsman is at check in. Helmsmen who are not owners must have a current ISAF Cat 1 certification in order to compete in this event.
- If you are able to enter your crew information ahead of time online please do. It will save time.
- Two VERY important notes about parking and foot traffic
- PLEASE obey local parking signs and restrictions
They will tow if you are illegally parked!!!
- PLEASE follow foot traffic signs carefully
(cutting through parts of the boat yard or resident’s yards is prohibited)
If you have any last minute questions please call or email
See you next week!!
Regards,
Karen Manning
